AksonThai — a handwriting-first Thai script practice app.
Getting started — pick a curriculum chip on the home screen: Consonants (44 letters in mid / high / low class), Vowels (short, long, compound, special), Marks & Numbers (tone marks and Thai numerals), or Syllables (~1500 words across five books). Choose books and chapters below, then tap Begin Practice. Quick Access also has Continue, Mid Class (9 consonants), and All 44.
Free vs Pro — AksonThai is free to download and use. The free version unlocks Mid Class consonants, Short Vowels, the entire Marks & Numbers curriculum, and the first 3 Foundation syllable chapters (Pronouns & Basic Words, Numbers & Counting, Family). A one-time Pro purchase unlocks every curriculum, book, chapter and the complete character set in search and drawing, including all future content. Locked items show a 🔒 — tapping one opens the Pro screen. You can restore a previous purchase on a new device from the Pro screen or Settings.
Practising a card — write the character on the canvas with your finger or stylus. Strokes animates the correct stroke order from TH Mali Grade 6; Ghost shows a faint guide beneath your drawing; Check scores your handwriting and can mark the card Learned. Undo and Clear sit beside the canvas, and Flip reveals the back with pronunciation, RTGS, a memory tip, stroke count, consonant class, and a mini dictionary.
Search — find any character by Thai, English, romanization, or by drawing it, across all curricula. Locked results still appear with 🔒; tapping one opens the Pro screen instead of practice.
Progress & Streak — the ✓ checkbox (manual or via Check) tracks learned cards; progress bars show completion per book and chapter. Blindspots filters a deck to what you have not learned yet. A 🔥 streak badge tracks daily practice once you start, with a one-day grace period and milestone celebrations.
Works offline — handwriting recognition runs on your device, so Check, draw-to-search and everything else work fully offline. The app may use the internet to download the on-device recognition model the first time, and for the app store to handle a Pro purchase or restore.
Backups — use Export / Import progress in Settings to save or restore all your local data as a JSON file.
